A well written interpretation of the events which take into account the perspective and cultural view of the Sioux in this case.

While I find it over generous in its interpretation of Sioux intentions and actions, perhaps after several hundred uneven years of literary works heavily slanted towards Euro views, it is understandable.

The underlying story is age old. Every culture is looking to dominate within and without its sphere of influence, and would use methods and justifications to accomplish that end.

So did the Americans in their expansion west, as did the Siouan peoples in their westward expansion from the Great Lakes and woodlands.
